Benny & the Femmes: Too Many Secrets

Rachel took hold of his right hand. Gretchen took hold of his left. And in a straight line, the girls led Benny across the parking lot with a stroll perfect for the length of their legs, but just a bit slow for his height. This made him take quite a few stuttered steps to stay in line with them.

No more than a few car-lengths into their trek to the entrance, Ben experienced something altogether new. For the first time, he learned what constant attention felt like. Walking between two dolled up girls, he found himself at the focal point of every glance they received from passers-by. And Rachel was doing her abled best to draw even more attention to him, pulling down on the front of his shirt so people could easily read it and continuously tugging down on his shorts before pulling them back up.

Whether they were walking past a girl or a guy, all eyes watched them from the front and then again from behind after Benny & the Femmes had past. He was hoping that people would be concentrating on Gretchen and Rachel’s exit views as opposed to him. But that hope made an exodus when they got closer to the entrance and people started talking to them.

“Well, aren’t you just a lucky guy tonight?” one lady said as they walked by her. “Let me know if you need help spanking him later.”

“Buddy, whatever you did wrong, keep doing it,” one guy said as they walked past him. “And don’t ever do anything right again.”

By the time they finally got into the mall, he felt so unhinged that even a sense of normally-relaxing littleness was hard to feel. Paranoia began to grip him up and in his mind’s attempts to find distraction from the influx of unwanted attention, he began to believe that everyone could hear his crinkle - loud and clear. And he believed that everyone noticed his walk – wide and waddling. He believed every set of eyes had read his t-shirt and that the grins on the girls’ faces were tell-all proof that something was up, something just a bit more than what people saw. His secret was at risk of meeting further exposure. He lowered his chin and Gretchen rubbed his back supportively.

“It’s okay, baby,” Gretchen said with a tone so gentle and inviting, he almost believed her. “You’re doing very well so far. And you’re being such a good little boy, I know your Mommy will be very happy with you when we get home.”

Then she patted his diapered bottom with more force than he had ever been patted before. The thudding noise she made was deafening in his ears and in his mind, everyone in the mall heard it. They held his hands and led him into the stream of shoppers ahead. Rachel was getting a bit giddy and excited, not only for being the keeper of Ben’s secret but also for getting near Victoria’s Secret.
